Redbubble Tags Research

Redbubble is a great site for generating passive income from your designs and artwork. The site receives millions of visitors every month looking to purchase cool and original Merch.

How To Get Found on Redbubble

So when uploading new designs to your Redbubble print on demand store, tags are one of the most important part of your listing. They form an important part of your ranking and ultimately help get your designs get in front of buyers.

So if you are a new artist on Redbubble or not getting any sales then these tips below are a good place to start.

How Do Redbubble Tags Work?

So when uploading a design to Redbubble you are permitted to add up to 50 tags to the listing. These are keywords associated with your item that allow it to be found by your target customers.

Tags are not only used by Redbubbles powerful internal search engine but are also indexed by sites like Google. Therefore selecting the right keywords for your tags is the difference between making sales or not.

What Tags Should I Use?

So you need to think of who your target customers are and what they might type into the search bar. Try to imagine yourself looking to purchase your design, what different words or phrases would you type into a search bar?

For example you have designed a ‘Cute Pug Dog’ design. With this design you would use tags like pug, dogs, doggy, pugs, cute, puppy, pets, love, dog lover and animals.

You don’t need to repeat words and you don’t need to include tags about the product type (e.g. T-Shirt or Sticker) as Redbubble will do this for you.

Researching Tags

If you want to see what similar top ranking designs are using for their keywords you can. Go to Redbubble and type in your primary target keyword for your design.

Click on the top listings and scroll down to the bottom, under similar designs. Here you will find the actual tags that they have used for their design, as shown in the screenshot below.

I don’t suggest that you just blindly copy a competitors tags but it should help give you an idea of what to use.

Try to think of all the possible phrases and words that your customer may search for and include as many of these as possible.

Free Redbubble Tag Generator

For every design you upload to RB you can add up to 50 tags. However this can often be very time consuming. The good news is that our friends over at Merch Titans have created a free Redbubble Tag Generator Tool.

All you have to do is enter your main keywords into the search box. Then click “Get Tags” and BOOM you have up to 50 ready to paste tags. The tags are generated based on the best sellers using your seed keywords!
